Legal Intern

Expected 1 day per week in Irvington, NY office.

About the Role

The Legal Intern will work part-time as an integral part of RLP,
interfacing with all attorneys at the firm, and assisting with both substantive and
administrative tasks, such as maintaining the firm calendar, cite-checking and copyediting
legal documents, drafting discovery demands, and providing research support. RLP will
accommodate the selected candidate’s academic schedule.

Responsibilities

The Legal Intern will play an active role in all aspects of the firm’s litigation practice, including:

  • Drafting, cite-checking and copyediting legal documents;

  • Preparing and organizing files for attorneys;

  • Filing and processing legal documents;

  • Maintaining the firm’s calendar;

  • Assisting with media and communications, including development of firm’s marketing, social media, and educational materials;

  • Researching facts for case development; and

  • Conducting client intake.

Qualifications

  • Second- or third-year law student preferred;

  • 1-3 years of experience in a law firm or other office setting preferred;

  • Strong analytical skills;

  • Excellent writing and research skills;

  • Highly organized with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines;

  • Demonstrated dedication to environmental, animal welfare, workers’ rights and/or social justice issues.

Additional Details

Job Type: Part-time (10-20 hours per week)

Pay & Benefits: $18/hr
